Faith is the Cornerstone, the Foundation of Everything We Do

  • Our heroes lived in Crazy Faith, thoughts and actions that lacked reason, but trusting fully in things you cannot explicitly prove
    • Biblical Example.) Noah building an arc but it never rained before; David thinking he can beat Goliath
    • Practical Example.) For some reason, I may feel like I may not qualify for this position but the job is mine
    • All crazy faith sounds crazy until it happens, but all Crazy Faith starts with Baby Faith
      • With faith as small as a mustard seed, you can speak to anything (cancer, bad attitudes, life, and death)

Questions People Ask About Faith:

  • How do you know you are moving in faith? How are you confident that what you’re believing in faith, is done? And how can you be sure that what you’re believing in will happen?
    • Answer: You Can’t! It’s not faith if you could figure it out!
      • Don’t look for assurance. Faith begins where understanding ends. Where you don’t know, that’s where faith starts.
      • What we do is try to understand it all before we start moving in faith. What God calls us to will never be a sure thing at the beginning.
      • You cannot put faith in action if you have to put understanding into it before you have faith. The Christian life is to be dependent on God, to trust Him.

Can God Still Work in “Maybe Faith?”

  • “Maybe this is you God? Maybe you’ll deliver me?”
    • Faith is not found in what you’re believing for. Faith is found in who you’re believing in.
      • Ex.) When you have faith in getting a new house but you didn’t get it, don’t feel bummed. Don’t have faith in the new house, but in the God who can do all things, like getting you a new house at the right time.
    • God’s sovereignty protects us from all the things we don’t know. God is working all things together for the good of those who love the Lord.

Salvation is the Starting Line of the Christian Life

  • Hebrews 10:38: And my righteous ones will live by faith. But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.
    • If you are saved, the prerequisite of Salvation is that you now have to live by faith.
    • If you’re a believer, there will always be a gap between what you have and what you want. Somewhere, you have a deficiency you need Faith to fill.
    • 2 Corinthians 12:8: Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away.
      • God can take this thing away from you but staying with that Gap requires dependence on God. God’s grace is sufficient.

What are you filling your Gap with? … because only fulfillment is found in God.

Father of our Faith = Abraham

  • Genesis 12:1-4: The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.” So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.
    • The root and fertilizer of all faith begins with daily devotion with God like Abraham had. You can have daily devotion with God by reading His Word and listening to worship music.
    • God speaks through His Word and through others, so listen to those who have sought God.

Faith is Uncomfortable and Unfamiliar

  • When you’re going to walk in faith, you’re going to have to walk, read, and be around things that are unfamiliar.
    • Faith will require new provision. The way we saw God move before, we will want Him to move again, but that’s not the case. God can’t be pinned down to a formula. You have to walk by faith.
      • Ex.) Jesus healed some by speaking the Word, some by talking to people, and others by touching people, etc. All different ways because there is no formula.

Faith will Force Vulnerability

  • Walking in faith will make you feel naked. There is no way to be safe when you’re moving in faith. Therefore, it’s very important who you talk to and who you’re around in your season of “Maybe Faith.”

Faith is Moving and Allowing God to Direct Your Step

  • Ex.) Abraham is faced with a decision to stay where he was or move in Faith. Abraham had to make that first move in faith, then God told him where he’ll end up.
    • Most of us are still standing, still wanting God to move us.

The Pain of Faith is Always Anchored by the Promises of Faith

  • The sacrifices you make in this season, God will use to usher in His blessings.
    • Am I 100% sure I heard the voice of God? Maybe, but faith begins where understanding ends.

Why Aren’t More People Living By Faith?

  • People think that their doubt disqualifies their faith, but the opposite of faith is not doubt but fear. Therefore, we have to respond to doubt with faith.
    • Mark 4:35-41: As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. 40 Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”
      • Jesus rested in faith while His disciples are filled with fear. Where do you put your pillow, in faith or fear?
    • 2 Timothy 1:7: For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
      • Fear doesn’t come from God, but His is power.
  • You don’t have to be 100% certain to be in faith. You have to take your life out of fear and give faith at 51%.
