Introduction: Cloudy Faith

  • Like the story of Exodus, we all began in bondage of sin. We all need that process where God sends a Moses to our lives, to bring us out of darkness and into His marvelous light.
    • A Moses that comes for every generation and delivers us (which means freedom from) and gives us guidance (which means freedom to).
    • You can come out of Egypt but Egypt has to come out of you.
      • When the Israelites left Egypt, they still had their “Egypt mindset.” The Israelites were spiritually bound and God was categorized “The God of their Ancestors” instead of the God of their own lives.
      • The Israelites were also wearing armor when they left Egypt, but God knew they weren’t ready to fight, so He made them circle around the desert to teach and train them in the process.
  • Cloudy Faith: Realizing that God has to lead us and retrain us as His people.
    • EX.) When the Israelites set camp (Numbers 9:15-23), the tribes circle around the tabernacles with it (and God Himself) being in the very center of it.
      • God’s intention in doing this was to teach the Israelites who He was

What Cloudy Faith Represents:

  • God’s Covenant for Protection
    • God came to the Israelites in a cloud at the daytime to shade them and a pillar of fire at night to warm them up.
  • God’s Direction for the Future
    • The cloud (God) is always moving and He’s moving you to the future.
    • Sight sees the present (you); vision sees the future (God). Sight sees present problems; vision sees future opportunities. Sight sees what you can’t; vision sees what you can.
    • Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
  • God’s Authorization on Leadership
    • Numbers 11:25: And the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to Moses. Then he gave the seventy elders the same Spirit that was upon Moses. And when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied. But this never happened again.

When Cloudy Faith Moves:

  • There’s an Impartation of Gifting
    • Impartation: Something instilled in you, or upon you, that often times you haven’t paid for; it’s given to you down on the inside
    • Some people hear truth, others get revelation, but truth has to become revelation because truth without revelation cannot change you.
      • EX.) God imparts an anointing on your presentation skills
  • There is an Interruption of Routine
    • EX.) 1 Kings 8:10-11: When the priests came out of the Holy Place, a thick cloud filled the Temple of the Lord. The priests could not continue their service because of the cloud, for the glorious presence of the Lord filled the Temple of the Lord.
    • Sometimes, God interrupts our routine to help us do the things He called us to do
  • There is an Intervention of Seasonal Change
    • EX.) 1 Kings 18:43-44: Then he said to his servant, “Go and look out toward the sea.” The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said, “I didn’t see anything.” Seven times Elijah told him to go and look. 44 Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.” Then Elijah shouted, “Hurry to Ahab and tell him, ‘Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!’”
      • It’s not over until God says it’s over, and it’s not over until God brings the rain.
    • Don’t miss the change of season, change clothes accordingly. Weather change seasons naturally, but God can change seasons anyway He wants.
    • Don’t hate the winter season God brings you to because that’s when you can grow your roots deep within God.
  • There is an Invasion of Presence
    • Isaiah 19:1: This message came to me concerning Egypt: Look! The Lord is advancing against Egypt, riding on a swift cloud. The idols of Egypt tremble. The hearts of the Egyptians melt with fear.
      • When God comes in, the whole spiritual realm quakes. The enemies that come after you and invade your mind will melt in His presence.
      • The cloud is moving so move with the cloud.
