Mike Todd’s Introduction

  • When you believe God, the “things” are a byproduct
  • When you believe God, you can speak to things and they change
  • At the end of this service, we’re going to sow
  • We’re taking a stance to say, what can we give to expand and accelerate the vision that God has planned here
  • Today we’re going to learn about faith
  • Next week, is graduation
  • If you haven’t watched all of the Forgiveness University series, go back and watch them, then we’ll graduate next week
  • This week, Mike wants to give us an expectation

Expectation: the degree or probability that something will occur

Without one, you’re just reactive – waiting for something to go wrong, for us to react to it.

Mike wants to raise our expectations – to look forward to the future good. For something changing in your family, your heart, and to get rid of things to move to your future.

1. It Takes Faith to Forgive

In these 10 weeks, the level of deliverance has been exponential.

You can see the freedom on the faces of people. There are testimonies of people who have been able to forgive themselves, forgive their children, etc.

It takes faith to forgive.

For some of us, it’s taken all 10 weeks to forgive once. That’s okay. Mike believes we got this series at the end of 2020 for us to walk in a level of forgiveness all of 2021.

2021 can be your free-est year because you had the faith to forgive.

It also takes faith to give.

2. It Takes Faith to Give

Releasing the debt takes one level of faith. To be able to be a blessing takes another level of faith.

Some of us are only good as long as everyone in our box is good.

The kingdom is about moving outside of your box and stepping into someone else’s world.

When you ask God, He doesn’t consult with the government or anything else. We are on kingdom economy.

Proverbs 3:9-10 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

9 Honor the Lord from your wealth,

And from the first of all your produce;

10 Then your barns will be filled with plenty,

And your vats will overflow with new wine.

Because of who He is, we can be a blessing during any circumstance.

3. It Takes Faith to Live

You cannot reach purpose outside of God.

We need to have faith to forgive, to give, and to live.

We walk by faith.

2 Corinthians 5:7 King James Version (KJV)

7 For we walk by faith, not by sight

Walking is a daily thing.

This is not a moment of faith, this is a step of faith on our walk of faith.

We can’t just do it one time and then not trust God next week.

We’re walking – this is not a moment of faith.

This week, we’re going to give. Next week, God is going to tell us to be nice to that coworker (that might take a step of faith), now apologize to that person, now forgive your sister for not saying happy birthday, now go serve in the children’s ministry (even though you don’t like kids) – these are steps.

God is trying to move us into a lifestyle of faith, not moments of faith.

It’s saddening to see the condition of the world in that we run to faith in tragedy.

9/11 – every church was packed. The thought of a pandemic, everyone wants to go to church. The first 3 weeks of the pandemic, all the churches had wealth.

In times of trouble, we want faith. You don’t need what you already have when you continue to walk in it.

Today, be encouraged that this will be the first time that many of you have taken a conscious step of faith where you say no matter what is going on, I am going to honor you God with this seed. It doesn’t matter the amount, just obedience.

This faith thing for Transformation Church is not a fad, this is faith.

The DNA of this church is faith. Before any lights, cameras, God told us to choose who we were going to be. We had to choose who we were going to be in the dark. It’s how you choose how you’re going to be when nobody is there. How you treat your wife when nobody is there, everything you do in the dark. Choose how you will parent before your child arrives. Choose in the dark.

We have culture codes for faith. One of the culture codes is Faith. The codes says, we have ‘Faith in God, Faith in People, and Faith for Miracles.’

Today, Mike stands in a miracle because we chose in the dark, what would be lived out in the light.

Will you choose right now, before the zeros in the bank account, before the IG followers increase, to choose faith in the dark so that you can live out faith in the light.

Mike believed for a drum set when he was 15 and it cost $8,000. His parents didn’t crush his faith. He began to believe God and prepare. He would take all of this savings and put it aside. He believed and wrote it down. Mike would have protractors and rulers drawing in the class. He’s a prophetic drawer. The Bible says to write the vision down and make it plain. When you write down things, it gives a timestamp of where your faith believed God. It will give proof when it comes to pass. Mike wrote down with the projector to give God excellence because he had no money. He had the paper in his binder.

Mike literally walked around his 9th grade year with a picture of his crazy faith – people would ask what it was, “my new drum set”, “when you getting it?” “Soon”, “Who’s going to provide for it?” “God”. Doesn’t that seem crazy? Yea, until it happens.

It wasn’t even a year when God blessed his parents with the other half and he was able to get it at 16 years old.

Faith is not a fad here. It’s how we live our lives

Some of us can be so lackadaisical and nonchalant about the things of God. He is looking around the whole world, not for worry, not for frustration, but trying to find somebody that would have faith.

Now that drum set sits in Mike’s home, custom made, beautiful, because he had the audacity to believe God. The audacity to not look at what your family had as a marker. It might as well be me.

Some of you may have said, “It might as well be me” in faith for the first time.

There are so many people whose faith is accounted to them. We can be living epistles. We don’t only have to read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, it can be the book of You.

You can be his word walking. We need to stir up the walking word.

Every day they are raising their kids by faith, working on their marriage by faith, believing in the shop by faith…

Let’s look at Abraham as the father of our faith. He was called that because of how he lived his life. He wasn’t perfect. He lied, made mistakes, slept with the wring woman, but he embodied progression and not perfection. God still considered him the father of faith.

No matter what you’ve done, people can recognize your faith, despite your flaws.

God does not define us by our worst moments, but by our best ability to walk in His word.

Message Title: (Crazy) Faith Unlocked

Genesis 12:1 New Living Translation (NLT)

The Call of Abram

12 The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.

He talked to Abram, and told him to leave comfort, leave your family, your father’s house, everything you’ve built so far, your plans for your family, your ideas for college, the company you’ve been building for 6 years, leave your homies you’ve been friends with from 8th grade, leave the places you go to feel comfort and peace, leave the ideas of yourself that you got tattooed on yourself because you wanted to be different and show that you were an individual, leave everything that’s comfortable, and go.

Go to the land. I’ll show you.

In other words, leave certainty and go to uncertainty. This is crazy faith. Leave what’s comfortable and go to uncertainty.

That’s how many times God sees if He can trust you with what He has for you. He says, “Will you go before I show?”

Will you step before I tell you how it’s coming back to you?

Will you give before the check is cashed?

Will you serve before you have a title?

Will you go before I show?

This is a combination to unlock your faith.

4. Crazy Faith is Unlocked with a Word from God

Everything you see about TC and Pastor Mike, there was no guarantee. “Look what God has done” has come from going before God showed anything.

This has come from Mike laying down what he thought the plan was for his life. The prophecy Mike got when he was a day old was to master instruments and do music. He invested in this prophecy.

At 24, God said leave everything comfortable and to be the soundman at Greenwood Christian Center. Mike just wanted to know “why?!”

You may have felt like God, why? And God has responded in a way like, “Nah, I think I’ve been good enough to just warrant your trust.”

“I think I’ve sustained you enough to not have to tell you why. Give it up.”

God has warranted the ability to get the benefit of the doubt.

How can we give our boss, our spouse, and not give God the benefit of the doubt.

“This seems crazy to me, but I trust you”. “It seems outlandish, or the wrong move, but I trust you”.

Abram had to trust God at His word.

Some would trust the word of your banker over the word of your maker.

If God told you would get the house but the institution told you ‘no’, now your faith is shot? We can’t let it affect our faith by not trusting God at His word.

Maybe that closed door was an open window somewhere else. Maybe it was God’s direction trying to move you to the place of His blessing. We let it affect us because we will not trust God at His word.

God is saying, trust Him at His word and give Him the benefit of the doubt.

You’ll never leave something that’s comfortable and not get it back 10 times more in this life and the next.

If you’re going to unlock faith, you’ll know crazy faith is unlocked with a word from God.

Genesis 12:2-4 New Living Translation (NLT)

2 I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. 3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”

4 So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.

Make sure you don’t go on a “Good Word”, but on a “God Word”. There are a lot of things that look good, that are not God. You might be dating one of those things. God really wants to give you what’s His, even if it doesn’t look like what you think you want. So make sure you have a God word, and not a “good word”.

5. Crazy Faith is Unlocked in Action

Abram’s next step was not a figuring out step. It was a verb. It was an action.

Faith is a verb. Don’t say you have faith, but you’re sitting still.

Faith without works is dead. Works are actions/movement.

Many of us try to figure out how to make it happen when God is not requiring that of our faith. He’s asking you to do something in faith “that it will happen.”

Anecdote: For Mike, when he was really broke (temporarily out of usable funds LOL), the Holy Spirit said work your faith. Mike asked, “What do you want me to do God?” God asked, “What can you do right now for free that empowers your faith?” Mike was blank. Then God asked, “Where are you going to store this money?” Mike said, “I guess at the bank”. God said, “Are the accounts open?” Mike said, “No”, and God said, “Well you’re not ready, for the blessing that I will do if you prepare.” So Mike went to the bank and asked, how much it would cost to open up a couple of accounts. She said, today, it only costs this much money. Mike said, “Okay, I’ll be back next week.” Mike didn’t have it. He said he’d be back next week because he got his next step. All that week, Mike was looking for opportunity, not to make the miracle happen, but to make his next step of faith. Mike came back the next week with $200 and opened two accounts. The woman asked him what he wanted to name the accounts. He told her, “More than enough” and “Overflow”. She repeated the question, and Mike repeated the answer. Five years later, Mike still has those accounts open today. When Mike got ready to give yesterday, he saw the account that said Overflow. He didn’t realize it at the time, but God knew that four years later, Mike would write a book that would sell over 400,000 copies around the world in 6 months. There’s a little thing called royalties, and for every book sold, they have to give Mike some money. They made a transfer this week. When Mike was believing God for what He told him in his heart that he was supposed to give, the faith that Mike had to open an account five years ago produced the funds for it. You don’t have to figure out how it’s going to happen, but you have to have the faith to make the next step!

Mike told Natalie, “Babe, God never fails on a promise that He’s given to His kids.”

Mike’s crazy faith for today was unlocked 5 years ago when he took action.

For some of us, writing down on the crazy faith card was the first step of faith.

If you’re believing for your debt to be paid, do you know how much down to the cent that is needed to wipe it out?

God can’t direct something that is not moving.

For some of us, we used to have vehicles that have died on us – on the highway. Usually, people will pull up and try to get you off the next exit. Hopefully, you’re not that far. What happens is that you can either stand there, or pray that some strong people get out of their car and help you. If you stand still, the wheel is hard to move, but when you get some energy, and a few steps behind it, it becomes easier to move. Fear, frustration, and the pain of your past has kept you stuck, but as you go, God will begin to show. Start the business, send the email, write the song, open the account, forgive that person (you have to work with them in 6 months), start the LLC.

Crazy faith is unlocked in action.

Genesis 12:3 New Living Translation (NLT)

3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”

What if your deposit on Earth was meant to bless the whole world?

6. Crazy Faith is Unlocked for Others

God releases crazy faith on your life so that it can bless others.

God gives seed to the sower. The benefit is that the seed passes through you, so that you can be used as a conduit.

God gave us funds so that it could go to missions.

The faith is for you to be able to distribute.

You need a bigger home to host people so that they could have a small group because they can find healing in there because they would never step foot in a church.

God will give it to you, and trust you with it, if “they” are on your mind.

It’s about motive. God is questioning motives.

Why do you want to be a creative genius? So that your insecurities can run rampant?

Why do you want your debt to be paid off? For vacations, or to provide for someone else in need?

We write down the vision to be out of debt, but have you taken the vision further to say what you will do in a place of freedom?

Will we be able to be ones of crazy faith that leave our faith in action, so that even when we’re no longer around, that people will be blessed when we’re not around.

TC is good ground because people will be blessed when none of us are around anymore.

All you have is all you need. We’re going to stand here in crazy faith in the middle of the pandemic, trusting God in crazy faith. We’ll be spoken about, “do you remember how they blessed the community?” “Do you remember when they gave the government money for the teachers?” – We need to be the church that has so much crazy faith that God can trust us with anything.

It’s more blessed to give as it is to receive. That’s why God loves blessing us.

God isn’t trying to hold anything back from you. He only holds it back when we can’t handle it – and it’s usually because it’s self-centered and our motivation is wrong.

Abram still didn’t have a child. In fact, he didn’t have a son. For us, we say things like, “not only do I not have a degree, but I don’t have a job”.

Genesis 15:2 New Living Translation (NLT)

2 But Abram replied, “O Sovereign Lord, what good are all your blessings when I don’t even have a son? Since you’ve given me no children, Eliezer of Damascus, a servant in my household, will inherit all my wealth.

This is a real transparent moment.

“What good is the promotion if I don’t have a spouse to share it with?” “What good is healing in my body if I still don’t know my purpose?” “What good is _________?” “What good is all of these songs you’ve given me and no platform to share them on?” “What good is the movie idea and no funding?”

7. Crazy Faith is Unlocked Despite Doubt

You can have doubt and still have crazy faith.

Abram had doubt, but still had faith.

He was doubting God and is still called the Father of Faith.

God is not intimidated by your questions. Men are intimated by them, God is not. God is not moved by your doubt. This is the beautiful thing about our God. When you come boldly to the throne of grace, He will send confirmation.

God asked Abram to count all the stars. He literally gives him a vision of something that is unfathomable.

Genesis 15:5-6 New Living Translation (NLT)

5 Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!”

6 And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.

8. Crazy Faith is Unlocked When The Vision is Bigger Than You

God says you don’t need crazy faith for something you can make happen.

Abram only gets unlocked in faith when the vision is much bigger than himself.

Ask God to pay off someone else’s house, not just yours.

The vision has to be bigger than you.

God told Mike to write down “Transformation Nation” because there would be people worshipping all over the world. He made the vision bigger so that Mike would have to believe beyond.

If it doesn’t scare you, then you don’t need faith.

You don’t need faith, just a plan and execution.

Some of us are using our faith for trash – for things just not being lazy will accomplish.

Look up into the stars and count them if you can.

What God shows, try to envision – if you can. Become okay with not knowing the whole picture – but try it if you can. Eyes haven’t seen, ears haven’t heard, neither has it entered the heart or mind what God has prepared for those who love Him!

What God does for TC, He does for our houses. The blessings aren’t just for the church’s location.

Think bigger if you can.

It has to be bigger than you.

Look at verse 6.

Genesis 15:6 New Living Translation (NLT)

6 And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.

Believing doesn’t cost any money, but it costs all of your attention. You have to stay focused on what God said.

The Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith – not his skill, or networking, but because of his faith.

For anyone who has stopped believing in the Lord, believe again. It will be counted as faith. Believe that God can do more, believe He still can use you at whatever age you are – 68, 72, 15, 25, 33 – Believe again.

Believe again.

After the doubt, after the questions, believe again.

Believe again that your marriage will change people’s lives, not just be a case study for what goes wrong.

Believe again that your children will stand up and call you blessed and will be saved, and your whole family will be saved.

Believe again that poverty is not your portion and that God is going to bring you to a place where you can bring other people out of poverty.

Believe again.

That belief is sometimes all you have when you go into the next step – because crazy faith is unlocked while waiting.

9. Crazy Faith is Unlocked While Waiting

This story would have been perfect for us if the blessing happened in a couple of days or a week or so.

We all want God to change the husband, family, the money – in a few days, 7 days, maybe 8.

In Genesis 15 at the time Abram when he got the promise, it took 25 years for the promise. This is where some of you find yourself today – in the wait.

It’s not about the wait, it’s about the wait that produces the weight. More specifically, it’s not about the time, it’s about the right heart posture (the way you wait). The longer you stay in the right waiting heart posture, it produces weight – spiritual maturity. We get disgruntled in the wait time and end up having no spiritual weight.

This is why many times God can’t trust us with more, because we’re concerned more about the wait, than the way we’re waiting, and we don’t get any weight.

God doesn’t trust big things to light people.

You think Mike is light because he’s young, but you didn’t see him in the youth group teaching young people to pray every Saturday. And every Sunday, Mike was serving Bishop, and every Wednesday Mike was doing whatever he had to do, not looking for the time when God elevated him, but just making sure his heart was right. Mike did everything from painting the shutters, to pulling up carpet, to washing Bishop’s car, and whatever God asked him to do in the wait. Mike didn’t know he was becoming a pastor. He didn’t know you would follow him on Instagram. He didn’t know that after making him give up music that 12 years later he would allow the song to go number 10 on the R&B billboard charts.

We need to do whatever God asks us to do in the wait.

God never shows you the promise while He’s trying to teach you patience. You want a promise but you need patience first.

That’s why we need to get our weight up.

If you’re in this to feel good, go somewhere else. We’re going to be devoted and ready for whatever God calls us to do. We need spiritual maturity. Petty stuff are a distraction. In crazy faith, we’re unlocking faith today and we will be ones that have weight.

In this time, God is preparing people that will be able to represent Him in every sphere of influence – in entertainment, in government, and will not be swayed by the opinions of man.

There are people that God is bringing into divine alignment, that have done their work on the backside of the mountain, that have prayed, and fasted, and gave in the dark so that God could promote them in the light.

God is asking you to take the step of faith in the dark that will produce the faith the world will speak about in the light. Even if we don’t know the land we’re going to, teach us how to wait so that we can get the spiritual maturity and the weight.

All “worry” is, is patiently waiting in reverse. It’s frantic.

God has never been rushed by people.

Either you wait on Him, or do what you need to do to survive the chaos.

We’re going to wait on God.

We don’t move when people move. We move when God tells us to move.

Hebrews 6:15 New Living Translation (NLT)

15 Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised.

The promise is where most people make a grave mistake. When we receive the thing, many times we take a breath and sigh of relief, thanking God, and then feeling like we no longer have to believe God.

We don’t learn the lesson of faith, and God has to put us back in situations that makes us dependent on God again.

Somewhere along the way, Abraham stopped being intentional.

Genesis 22:1-2 New Living Translation (NLT)

Abraham’s Faith Tested

22 Some time later, God tested Abraham’s faith. “Abraham!” God called.

“Yes,” he replied. “Here I am.”

2 “Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.”

God will make sure He still has your heart before He gives you the next level.

Replace son and say, “Take your promise, your only promise”.

That career you love so much, that status you love so much, the followers you love so much…

“which I will show you” – it’s the same instructions from the beginning. Take your promosie and sacrifice it where I will show you. He’s testing to make sure He has his heart.

Genesis 22:3 New Living Translation (NLT)

3 The next morning Abraham got up early. He saddled his donkey and took two of his servants with him, along with his son, Isaac. Then he chopped wood for a fire for a burnt offering and set out for the place God had told him about.

Crazy Faith is Unlocked in a Test, then it’s Unlocked in Obedience.

10. Crazy Faith is Unlocked in Obedience

Last year, God tested Mike and Natalie’s faith on the amount they were to give. When they made the decision to give, Mike walked off the platform and there was a guy who wanted to pray with Mike. Mike was shaking as he was about to give. Not even 60 seconds later, he turned around, kissed Natalie, and God said, “because of the step, because of your obedience, and sacrifice I’, going to bless you”.

11. Crazy Faith is Unlocked After Sacrifice

The exact amount was given to Mike.

Mike didn’t even look at the envelope. He looked at the envelope later and it was the exact amount.

God didn’t let Mike go for one minute without providing.

At the moment of your obedience, God already has the answer.

Genesis 22:10-12 New Living Translation (NLT)

10 And Abraham picked up the knife to kill his son as a sacrifice. 11 At that moment the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!”

“Yes,” Abraham replied. “Here I am!”

12 “Don’t lay a hand on the boy!” the angel said. “Do not hurt him in any way, for now I know that you truly fear God. You have not withheld from me even your son, your only son.

“Will God be able to stand up and say, as for us and our church, you have not withheld, even your ______________”?

If you don’t withhold, He’ll know he can trust you with it.

It wasn’t until he was ready to sacrifice, that heaven opened.

Provision was on the other side of the sacrifice.

God doesn’t care about what’s in your hand if He doesn’t have your heart.

Today, we’re giving everyone the opportunity to unlock your faith.

Many times, there’s a combination of things that has to happen for you to have a promise unlocked.

Transformation Church Sermon Notes - BIM - Bold Insider Marketing - CRAZY Faith Unlocked Do You Have Crazy Faith FU - Forgiveness University Part 11 Michael Todd 2

Someone came and gave a 2006 BMW specifically for Steven.

What happens when you live a life of faith unlocked?

We celebrate the person who got the blessing.

God celebrates the person who gave the blessing.

Here we are, at the testing of our faith.

The test of our faith will be proved in a different season.

“God, unlock my faith” – ask God today.

Unlock our faith God.

Nothing we do for your Kingdom God, will ever return void.

Prayer & Altar Call: The most important sacrifice you can make is not monetary, it’s one of your whole life. We want you to have the faith to know that God loves you. The reason why God has faith, is because, remember to have crazy faith, you have to sacrifice. God sent His only son and sacrificed Him in crazy faith that when you were broken and lost, you would be able to make the greatest sacrifice – to give your entire life to Jesus Christ. God is saying, it’s available. You only need to make a great sacrifice – to give your life completely to Christ.

This is the decision that Mike made that took him from being a liar, a manipulator, addicted to pornography, and with very bad things in his heart, to not a perfect man, but a progressing man, that does walk in crazy faith like Abraham. Today, God is saying, it’s available. All you have to do is make a great sacrifice. One the count of three we’re going to have a prayer. You don’t have to admit everything bad you’ve ever done or any of that stuff, but you do have to give your life completely to Christ. According to Romans 10:9, all you have to do is confess and believe that He lived, He died, and He rose again for you. When you believe that by faith (not through works), but by faith you are saved.

We’re here to depopulate hell and populate heaven.

Today, as a church we’re going to pray together – we don’t pray alone. On the count of three, if that’s you, lift your hand up in the air. 1. You’re making the greatest decision of your life. 2. We’re proud of you, but more important than that, your name is going to be written in the lamb’s book of life. 3. Shoot your hand up. There are people all over the world asking Jesus to become the Lord of their life. This is what it is all about.

Let’s Pray Together: God, thank you for sending Jesus, for me. Today, I give you my life, I believe you lived, you died, and you rose again, just for me. Today, I’m putting my faith in you, change me, renew me, transform me, I’m yours, in Jesus name, Amen.

  • All of heaven is rejoicing! The angels are turning up, we are turning up!
  • Text ‘Saved’ to 828282 for resources to become the best version of yourself. We want you to live this life of crazy faith unlocked.

Bonus Point: Faith is never forced. It’s something you have to desire to live out. Today as a church, we are getting stronger.

Background Transformation Church Notes - Elevation Church Notes - BIM 5 - Bold Insider Marketing - Volunteer to Help Write Notes

I love Jesus, my husband, Will, my toddler daughter, Sola, and the beautiful friends and family in our lives. Me and Will are from the Bahamas, but we currently reside in Austin, Texas. We joined TC Nation as online members of Transformation Church in 2017 when we moved to Austin from Miami, Florida. In 2020, we also happily took on a more active role with the E-Fam of Elevation Church by fellowshipping with other married couples and were pleased to have the opportunity to join TC Beta Belong Groups. I believe that representing God doesn’t have to be done in “traditional spaces”. After listening to Pastor Mike's sermon, "Who's the Minister Here?", it became my mission to shed light on Christ in all arenas, including, but not limited to, corporate America, marketing, technology, and finance. I'm not perfect, but I'm progressing. I am a marketer, but first, I am a Christian, and the aim of this blog is to publicly share my sermon notes as a form of stewardship. I hope that these message notes can bring clarity to anything you may be seeking and help you to experience the peace and glory of Jesus Christ. I'm happy to pray for you as well if you ever wanted to shoot me an email. The effectual fervent prayers of many of you have helped countless circumstances in my life and in the lives of those around me. Thank you!
